In addition, you can identify the secure mode if you see either a solid key icon or a locked padlock icon at the lower portion of your browser window.

FAQ
Which frame has the best fit for my face?

At MOSCOT, we follow a simple rule: select a frame that offsets the shape of your face.

Please CLICK HERE to view the MOSCOT FIT GUIDE to help you find your perfect fit.

What do the frame sizes mean?

The measurement of the frame corresponds to the eye opening/lens size and the bridge size.

Eyeglass sizes are listed as number/number – e.g. 44/24.

The first number (44, 46, etc) stands for the eye size in millimeters or the measure of each individual lens opening horizontally.  The second number (22, 24 etc) is the length of the bridge (or the distance between the lenses) in millimeters.

How do I measure my face to determine what size frame I need?

This is very subjective but there are a few rules we follow at MOSCOT. We like to make sure the eye is well centered in the frame and that the width of the overall frame ends up being similar to the width of your head.

Are the sizes universal?

Yes, all sizes are universal – and note that eyeglasses are measured using the metric system.

What style does Johnny Depp wear?

Johnny Depp wears the Lemtosh in Tortoise, size 46/24.

What are your frames made out of?

The majority of the MOSCOT Originals frames are made of cellulose acetate, the best quality plastic ophthalmic material. However, the Yukel is made of metal and cellulose acetate, and the Zulu is made of metal.
The majority of the MOSCOT Spirit frames are also made of cellulose acetate, except for the Jordan and the Simmons, which are made of metal and the Glenn and the Parkay, which are made of metal and cellulose acetate.
The MOSOCT Titanium frames are constructed in two parts - the fronts, made of pure titanium and nickel-free, are strong, sturdy and hypoallergenic, and the frame temples, which are made of beta-titanium, a softer, more pliant material that can be easily adjusted for the perfect fit.
Are the lenses glass or plastic?

Demo lenses that come with FRAME ONLY orders are plastic. Our sunglass lenses are made of glass with lens colors that precisely duplicate the true old school colors first fabricated by the company in the 1940s.

Do the MOSCOT Originals/Spirit sunglasses have UV protection?

Yes, all of our sunglasses have 100% UV protection. Glass lenses inherently block 100% of UVA and UVB light.

Are the MOSCOT Originals real vintage or replicas?

The MOSCOT Originals Collection, based on styles from the MOSCOT archives from 1930-1970, celebrates the classic good looks and timeless design born in decades past. The frames retain the authenticity of the original frame styles including real glass lenses in the sunglasses, traditional hardware, and lens colors that precisely duplicate the true old school colors first fabricated by the company in the 1940s. The faithfully reproduced collection is available as ophthalmic frames or sunglasses, with or without a prescription, in a variety of frame and lens color combinations and sizes.

What is the difference between the Originals, Spirits and Titaniums?
The MOSCOT Originals Collection, based on styles from the MOSCOT archives from 1930-1970, celebrates the classic good looks and timeless design born in decades past. The frames retain the authenticity of the original frame styles including real glass lenses in the sunglasses, traditional hardware, and lens colors that precisely duplicate the true old school colors first fabricated by the company in the 1940s. The faithfully reproduced collection is available as ophthalmic frames or sunglasses, with or without a prescription, in a variety of frame and lens color combinations and sizes.

The MOSCOT Titanium Collection translates the bold, unmistakable look of the MOSCOT Originals into a slimmed down, lightweight silhouette that is timeless and timely at the same time. Using the latest in eyewear technology, MOSCOT Titanium combines pure titanium with beta-titanium for an ultra lightweight, ultra modern look that is truly one of kind. The collection is available as ophthalmic frames in a variety of frame colors and sizes.

The MOSCOT Spirit Collection seamlessly blends classic elements from the MOSCOT Originals Collection with progressive styling to create a look that is bold, edgy and timeless, all at the same time. The ultra sleek, luxe collection is available as ophthalmic frames or sunglasses, with or without a prescription, in a variety of frame and lens color combinations and sizes.
What do all of your frame names mean/stand for?

MOSCOT Originals are named after Moscot family members or are family member’s nicknames, or are Yiddish words that evolved into MOSCOT-isms. MOSCOT Spirit are named after Moscot family and friends.

How long does it take to receive my glasses?

Order processing and shipping time varies depending on the type of lens ordered, the availability of merchandise, and our inspection process (we want to make sure your frames are perfect when you receive them), as well as the shipping method you choose.

Can I order glasses/sunglasses with a prescription?

Yes, you may order prescription lenses for any style eyeglass or sunglass.

Can you make custom color lenses?

Yes! We can make any color lens or match any tint that you want. However, keep in mind that certain tints are best suited for sun protection, while other tints are strictly for fashion. MOSCOT’s primary colors of grey, green and brown offer the best sun protection

I don’t have a credit card, can I pay via wire-transfer/check?

Wire transfer is possible. Please email us at info@moscot.com further information. We do not accept checks.

I want to order more than one frame, is there a discount for large orders?

No, we do not offer as discounts, as our pricing is already as reasonable and competitive as possible.

What documents do I need to enclose when returning/exchanging a frame?

Simply fill out the return form that came enclosed in your package – include a copy of your receipt and/or order form and be sure to let us know the reason for the return or exchange.

I own my own optical shop and would love to carry your frames, how do I get in contact with a distributor?

Please email wholesale@moscot.com or more information on becoming a retail or wholesale account.

TERMS OF USE
Welcome to Moscot.com (the "Site") the website of MOSCOT Eyewear and Eyecare Since 1915. Venerable optical retailer, Moscot, has been a New York City institution for over 90 years. Patriarch Hyman Moscot began selling eyeglasses from a pushcart on Manhattan’s famed Lower East Side in the early 1900s and the rest, as they say, is history. Today, the company is run by fourth generation Moscot siblings. Each of the Moscot locations offer a selection of more than 1,000 frames from a wide variety of well known eyewear and sunglass designers, as well as a comprehensive inventory of contact and eyeglass lenses, and the company’s very own branded line of vintage-inspired glasses and sunglasses, the wildly successful, Moscot Originals. Moscot’s newest line, Moscot Spirit, remains true to the company’s classic downtown identity by mixing elements of the Originals with modern new styling. Moscot Eyecare (aka Moscot Vision Associates), the eye heath services also offered at all Moscot locations, provides patients with comprehensive eye care services – from routine eye examinations and vision exams for corrective lenses to sophisticated eye health assessments using the latest technology available for a more accurate diagnosis and treatment of a full range of medical eye conditions and maladies. Moscot also provides this Site and related services, but it can only do so subject to the following terms and conditions of use (the "Site Terms").
