It was a foggy, stormy night in NYC's Lower East Side on October 19th. Actually, the fog was coming from a machine inside the The MOSCOT Gallery and Music Space, and the storm was more like light rain -- definitely not enough to stop fans of French Horn Rebellion and Avan Lava to come and party it up with us in celebration of CMJ Music Marathon!

Avan Lava and French Horn Rebellion put on an amazing show! Avan Lava blew us away with their colorful costumes, crazy light show, and of course, fun music. French Horn Rebellion did the same with their 80's pop disco sound that got the crowd dancing and singing. MOSCOT fans were lucky enough to have our friends, Savoir Adore, back as part of FHR's band!

French Horn Rebellion's song, "This Moment" was the anthem of the night - all about sharing a great moment - which is exactly what we all did! We couldn't have ask for a better night of MOSCOT Music!

Last night, Antenna Magazine and Hyundai hosted a bumpin party for the launch of their RE:MIX LAB - a traveling gallery of famous collaborations in fashion - and MOSCOT was psyched to be part of it! The TERRY, from our MOSCOT Originals Collection, was one of the featured collaborations on display. The night was full of cool collaborations and fashion, great music, tasty cocktails, dancing, and even a few cars - yes, cars. A big, big thanks to everyone at Antenna for including MOSCOT and for their ongoing support!

FRENCH HORN REBELLION

AVAN LAVA

French Horn Rebellion (Robert and David Perlick-Molinari) kicked off 2011 by announcing the US self-release of their debut album, The Infinite Music of French Horn Rebellion. Written, produced and mixed by Robert and David, the album warps together the fabric of dance, electro, rock and funk. Previous to this release, the Brooklyn-based duo has had an illustrious pedigree; David produced MGMT's indie release Time to Pretend EP for Cantora Records, and French Horn Rebellion’s previous single “Up All Night” scored Record of the Week on BBC Radio 1 and a slot on the influential Kitsuné Maison compilation series. Pitchfork praised the track as, “irresistible, panting synth-pop, with fat new wave key tones and ecstatic vocals.”  The band has also toured with Yelle across the US, and remixed tracks from the likes of MEN, Two Door Cinema Club, OMD and Alex Winston.

Born in 2010 in New York City, AVAN LAVA is the union of singer T.C. (Tom Hennes), musician/producer Le Chev (Michael Laine Cheever), and drummer Ian Pai. After touring playing bass and DJ’ing with Fischerspooner on their “Entertainment” tour, Le Chev began collaborating with T.C., a singer with a performance background in NYC, to create the debut release by AVAN LAVA, an EP entitled “Vapors”. Prior to the first EP’s completion, the record was picked up by Faux Pyre Records, and the duo was flown to Los Angeles for mixing and mastering sessions at the prestigious Infrasonic Sound Studio with audio wizard Pete Lyman (The Mars Volta, Bloc Party). During the initial pre-production sessions for AVAN LAVA’s second release, tentatively titled “Fantasy”, the duo called on Ian Pai, also of Fischerspooner, and to collaborate on the upcoming album and he soon became a fixture in the group. AVAN LAVA is planning its second release in January 2012.

Last week esteemed designers from around the world unveiled their new collections in Paris, and MOSCOT was right at home amongst all the gorgeous couture debuting eight new MOSCOT Originals and six new MOSCOT Originals Sun styles.

New styles were unveiled in our booth at SILMO, meticulously designed to give visitors from every corner of the globe a chance to see what our New York City MOSCOT shops look like....with no detailed spared.

We’re so humbled and grateful for all the love we and support we received from our friends around the world. And a big, big, big merci to Baumvision Europe and their entire team for their tireless support.

A smaller, sleeker, and more stylized Aviator, The ZANE's narrow silhouette and fine lines make it the perfect unisex frame for flying any type of airplanes, including paper.

Welcome to our newest retailer, Kafka, way up north, in the beautiful city of Aberdeen, Scotland! We were lucky enough to visit the store and meet the wonderful owner, David, who let us hang out for a while and take some pics! We just love Aberdeen and are so happy to be in such a beautiful shop!

It doesn’t get any more cool and classic than this — the perfectly round ZOLMAN is Grandpa Sol’s frame. Yes, that Grandpa Sol. And yes, that frame from the photo of him sitting in his vintage Ford on Rivington Street, circa 1934. As we said, cool and classic. Fun fact: Zolman was Sol’s name on his birth certificate.
