Get to Know a MOSCOT Employee! Introducing Lauren!

What is your position at MOSCOT?
I’m the Business Manager – I handle operations for the Company.

How long have you worked for MOSCOT?
I started on the sales floor at MOSCOT 14th Street in 2007 and now here I am!

What is your favorite thing about working for MOSCOT?
My coworkers! They are truly some of the most amazing people I’ve ever met -- smart, funny, creative, and unique individuals!

What is your favorite thing to do when you’re not at work?
I love to bake! I almost never eat what I make, though. That’s what roommates are for!

What is one thing people don't know about you?
My thumbs bend really far back!  *see below.

Which MOSCOT frame is your favorite?
I really love The GLENDA, and I have a pair of The GINGER as sunglasses that are absolutely fab.

Where would you take your favorite pair of MOSCOT Sun on vacation?
The GINGER and I would be the stars that we are and cruise the Riviera.  With any luck there’d be a cute guy in The NEBB to join us…  (We’re currently looking for one.)

Comedienne and budding domestic diva, Amy Sedaris, was on NY 1 wearing The MOSCOT Originals NEBB while promoting her new book, "Simple Times: Crafts for Poor People." We think she looks fab!

The DANNEE was spotted on actor, Evan Handler, during last night's season premier of Californication. Evan, who plays agent, Charlie Runkle, upped his fashion ante wearing The DANNEE as sunglasses in Crystal with Brown lenses -- that is until the real star, David Duchovny, aka Hank Moody, snatched them away. Needless to say, The DANNEE looked pretty fantastic on both actors.

Check out MOSCOT in the "Greater New York" section of today's Wall Street Journal (January 6, 2011)! Journalist, Ralph Gardner Jr. visited our Lower East Side shop earlier this week and spoke with some of our fabulous staff members. The result? A fantastic article on the history behind several of our most popular frames, a sneak peak at a few new MOSCOT Originals to be launched in the Spring, and lots of fun and quirky facts that make us MOSCOT.

International intellectual, style guru and CNN host, Anderson Cooper, joined the revelers in New York City's Time Square for the count down to 2011 wearing The DANNEE from The MOSCOT Spirit Collection! Cooper, a long time MOSCOT fan, and Kathy Griffin discussed his festive eyewear choice for the evening, while graciously giving MOSCOT a shout out to ring in 2011.

GQ paid us quite a compliment when they listed The LEMTOSH as ‘The Quickest Way to Be a Style Visionary’ in their Spring Style Preview! Thanks GQ! We think you’re pretty great too!

Here's what they said about us!

The Quickest Way to Be a Style Visionary

The square-framed Wayfarer will never go away. But if you want something different from the shades all your friends are wearing, try a more rounded frame. East Coast prepsters used to wear round glasses in tortoiseshell, but for a more modern look, buy black frames. They'll give you a slightly geeky cool without going full Woody Allen.

With its polished, clean and refined look, The ZELIG is not as loud as its MOSCOT Original siblings, but its just as stylish! Zelig, which means "happy" in Yiddish was Grandpa Sol's affectionate nickname and fit him to a tee. Sol was a jovial guy - working the MOSCOT shop counter with an ear to ear grin while tirelessly doing what he loved to do best - make his customers happy! Square and made of pure acetate, The ZELIG has no exposed hardware and is beautifully beveled with a saddle bridge.

The December 11th, MOSCOT Music Saturday Session was jam packed with fans of Anni Rossi and MOSCOT! Anni put on an incredible show and looked great wearing The FIONAH in Honey (from The MOSCOT Spirit Collection) -- she even tweeted that they brought out the Italian woman in her, ain't that sweet! We just love Anni and her sound -- she is definitely one to watch!
