OUT OF OUR ARCHIVES AND ONTO FACES THIS FALL...MOSCOT DEBUTS SEVEN NEW MOSCOT ORIGINALS IN PARIS

Introducing The BABA, EMIS, LEBA, MORRIS, PUSHKIN, SECHEL, and SHAYNA

Paris, FRANCE, SILMO, Hall 5A Booth D 105, October 4, 2012 – MOSCOT, a New York City institution renowned worldwide for its iconic eyewear — The MOSCOT Originals, MOSCOT Spirit, and MOSCOT Sun Collections — celebrates “living history” with the release today of seven new MOSCOT Originals.

Based on frames from the family archives, The Fall/Winter 2012 MOSCOT Originals pays homage to the 1950s – 1960s with period details such as column rivets, and new colors sourced from the era including Blue Smoke, Straw, and Olive Tortoise.

All MOSCOT eyewear is handmade using the highest quality materials, real hardware, and hinges that are riveted through the temple and frame fronts to ensure the sturdiest construction possible. Every MOSCOT frame is available as ophthalmic eyewear or sunglasses, with or without a prescription, and is customizable in a variety of frame and lens color combinations and sizes. With nearly 100 years of eyewear expertise, MOSCOT carefully inspects every frame for quality control in our very own labs, housed within our New York City shops, before dispensing eyewear to you.

Introducing the 2012 Fall/Winter MOSCOT Originals Collection:

The BABA The BABA is our favorite new frame. It’s attractive, bold and uplifting (and oozes yummy squishy goodness) — just like Grandma Sylvia, the world’s greatest Baba, for whom this frame is named. Made from acetate with two dot rivets on the front and temples, a saddle bridge, and a five barrel hinge. Available in Grey fade and Olive Tortoise.

The EMIS If you love The NEBB, The HYMAN and The LEMTOSH, you’ll love The EMIS, a 1950s frame that shares its DNA with each. A tad thinner and featuring uniquely shaped column rivets, good genes have done The EMIS good. Made from acetate with column rivets on the front and temples, a saddle bridge, and a five barrel hinge. Available in Blue Smoke, Black, Tortoise, and Blue Smoke with G-15.

The LEBA The LEBA is big, bold and unapologetically fashion forward, just like Hyman’s wife, our Great Grandma Leba, for whom this frame is named. GG Leba was so ahead of the fashion curve, many believe she was THE original fashionista (or at least that’s our story…and we’re sticking to it). Made from acetate with dash rivets on the temples, a saddle bridge, and a five barrel hinge. Available in Tortoise and Tortoise with G-15.

The MORRIS Here’s to the rascals, the risk takers, and the three-dollar bills…and our long lost Great Uncle Morris (brother of Grandma Sylvia) a rare bird of a guy who never met a rule he didn’t break, or a town he didn’t skip. These glasses are for you, Uncle Morris…soldier on. Made from acetate with two dot rivets on the front and temples, a saddle bridge, and a five barrel hinge. Available in Matte Black, Olive Tortoise, and Matte Black with Cosmitan Brown.

The PUSHKIN - Sure…Uncle Zulu Pushkin may have been a runner for a famed New York bookie back in the day, but he was also one good lookin’ fella who knew how to wear a pair of glasses. The PUSHKIN was his frame of choice. He’d want you to buy it. You gotta problem with that? Made from acetate with two dot rivets on the side and temples, a saddle bridge, and a seven barrel hinge. Available in Matte Black and Matte Black with G-15.

The SECHEL Fasten your seat belts for a flight back in time. The SECHEL is ripped right from the faces of daredevil biplane pilots and barnstormers who tore up the skies in the late 1950s. Lucky for you, The SECHEL is just as useful on land. Made from acetate with two dot rivets on the front and temples, a keyhole bridge, and a five barrel hinge. Available in Straw and Straw with G-15.

The SHAYNAThe MOSCOT secret to sexy, youthful good looks? Plastic surgery? Nope The SHAYNA. With its soft lines and almond shape, this 1960s cat eye is tailored and refined to accentuate (read: lift) the cheekbones for a look that’s more kitty than cat. No wonder this style has endured for 50 plus years and counting. Made from acetate with two dot rivets on the front, a traditional saddle bridge, and a three barrel hinge. Available in Black, Olive Tortoise, and Black with G-15.

To launch its newest Collection of historical frames, MOSCOT enlisted the help of seven extraordinary individuals who like The MOSCOT Originals embody living history. Billy Leroy, Niki Russ Federman, Mark Miller, Marty Katz, Aaron Gross, Marilyn Blumengold, and Theodora Moscot are inextricably linked to the history of The Lower East Side the cradle of New York City. Like MOSCOT, they’ve helped build the city’s past through their multigenerational family businesses and diligent preservation work, and they continue to shape its future today fairly remarkable considering only three percent of all family businesses operate into the fourth generation and beyond, let alone within a few city blocks of one another.

The MOSCOT Collections are available in MOSCOT shops and online at moscot.com, and in specialty retail and optical shops worldwide. For more information on new and existing styles from all MOSCOT Collections, and for a complete list of shops selling MOSCOT eyewear, please visit moscot.com.
